When the Church comes together in the liturgical assembly to celebrate the Mass, there are a variety of ministries and roles. One way to give back to the church is through liturgical service. Those engaged in liturgical roles need to be well-prepared for those roles and to know how to carry them out with reverence, dignity and understanding. (Ministries and Roles Within the Liturgical Assembly at Mass, n.d.)
- Altar Servers - altar servers assist the priests at Mass. They can be either male or female, but must have received their First Communion. They will also be required to attend training sessions.
- Lectors - lectors perform the First and Second readings during the Mass along with the Responsorial Psalms and Prayers of the Faithful.
- Ushers - ushers serve at each Mass and help with seating availability as well as taking up the offertory collections.
- Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion - ministers assist the priests with offering the host and/or cup during Communion. They will be required to attend training sessions. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion should receive sufficient spiritual, theological, and practical preparation to fulfill their role with knowledge and reverence.
If would like to serve in one of these roles, please contact the Parish Office (870) 932-2529 to be put on the rotation.
