Baptism/First Communion/Confirmation

For information regarding Baptism for infants, and for information regarding Baptism or First Communion for children in grades K-6, contact RoseMary Latanich. For information regarding Baptism, First Communion or Confirmation for children in grades 7-12, contact Brandon Weisenfels .

Marriage

For information regarding Marriage, contact Fr. Mark Wood . Father Mark should also be contacted regarding the annulment of a previous marriage.

Ministry for the Sick

Those needing prayer or wishing Holy Communion be brought to them or to have a priest visit them in either their home, in the hospital or in a nursing home, should contact the parish office.

Medical Emergencies

In the event of a medical emergency and you need a priest for 'last rites', or in the event of a death and you need to arrange for a funeral, please call the parish office. If the emergency occurs at a time when the office is not open (i.e. weekday evenings/nights/weekends), please call 897-1694 or 530-1937 and a priest will respond as soon as possible.

 HISPANIC COMMUNITY SERVICES ANNOUNCES SUMMER PROGRAMS! 

Hispanic Community Services of Jonesboro announces the summer's Spanish programs for youth and adults. Click HERE for the ADULT program information and click HERE for the YOUTH information.

TWO NEW PROGRAMS AT BLESSED SACRAMENT! 

  Our first Mother/Daughter Program was a great success. A special thanks to all those who attended and those who so graciously volunteered their time and talents. We are already preparing for our next programs geared towards 13-18 year old girls, and 12-18 year old boys. We believe these programs are so important for the young people of our parish. 

   The Mother/Daughter Program for young ladies ages 13-18 is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2009. This program emphasizes the importance of self-respect and the need to establish high moral standards. The girls are encouraged to accept responsibility and be accountable for their actions. The fertility cycle is explained in depth, and the gift of fertility is discussed as something to be cherished and protected. The girls are challenged to love the gifts God has given them, to respect themselves and to dress modestly. There is a strong emphasis on the importance of the virtue of chastity as part of God's plan for all their relationships. The older girls' program is an extension of the one for the 10 -1 2 year olds, so it is helpful to come to both programs at the age appropriate time. We plan to take pictures of the Mothers and Daughters for them to have a keepsake of this special day. 

   The first Father/Son Program is going to be Saturday, October 17, 2009, for young men ages 12-18. This program explores God's special gifts of human sexuality and fertility as well as the goodness and wonder of His plan for growing up and becoming a man of integrity. Topics include: the physical changes in a young man's body as it prepares for fatherhood; emotional changes; acceptance of responsibility; the functions of the male and female reproductive systems; the sacredness of human life; appreciation and reverence for the gift of sexuality; the virtue of chastity; and a confidential question and answer segment. Healthy dating relationships with a strong emphasis on friendship, respect and chastity are also discussed. The environment will be set for guys, with shotgun shells and possibly BBQ. 

   The purpose of both programs is to provide an atmosphere of love and learning to discuss the important topic of growing up and to establish a foundation for continued communication between parent and child. We will have registration forms available to print online once school starts this fall for each program. We are truly blessed to have these programs available for our youth.

Sister Henrietta Hockle, O.S.B.

  Blessed Sacrament Church is now accepting orders for PARISH ON THE RIDGE, a magnificent historical story of Blessed Sacrament Parish written by Sr. Henrietta Hockle, OSB.  This is a story of a people on a pilgrimage and the leaders who inspired them over 120 years from 1885 to 2005.
  It is an overview of their vision, education and spiritual growth; of brick and mortar; of joys and vicissitudes; successes and setbacks; of generations of individuals and organizations working in community to manifest the Church locally. PARISH ON THE RIDGE will make an inspiring gift! Order forms can be obtained by contacting the Parish Office.

    Boy Scouts
    Troop 4, sponsored by Council #1702 of The Knights of Columbus, meets every Monday night at 6:30 in Blessed Sacrament's Church Hall. For information contact Scoutmaster Mike Garner  at (870) 761-8168.

    Classic Catholics
    Blessed Sacrament's Classic Catholics group are 'silver' Catholics...those 50 and over...who get together frequently for fun and fellowship. Contact Susan Power for more information or check the Church Bulletin for meeting times and other information concerning Classic Catholics.
     
    Society of St. Vincent de Paul
        Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de  Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.     As a reflection of the whole family of God, Members, who are known as Vincentians, are drawn from every ethnic and cultural background, age group, and economic level. Vincentians are united in an international society of charity by their spirit of poverty, humility and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings and adherence to a basic Rule.

    Blessed Sacrament Choirs
    Adult Choir -- Blessed Sacrament's Adult Choir sings regularly for the 10:30 Sunday morning Masses throughout the entire year and also for special  feast days. It rehearses every Sunday morning from 10:00 until 10:15 a.m. in the choir loft, and on Wednesday evenings from September through early May. Wednesday evening rehearsals are held in the choir loft and extend from 7:30 p.m. until 9:00. There are no auditions required for joining the choir and we heartily invite new singers to join our music ministry.     Children's Choir -- The Children's Choir sings for Masses twice each month from September through early May, alternating between the 5:30 p.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses. Rehearsals are regularly held for fifteen minutes, beginning one half hour before each of these masses, and on every Monday afternoon (when Blessed Sacrament School is in session) in the choir loft from 3;15 until 4:00 p.m.  Refreshments are served in Catholic Hall from 3:00 p.m. until 3:15. The choir is open to both boys and girls from second grade through middle school, and there are no auditions. In rehearsals, the children are instructed in proper singing technique and are taught the music to be sung for each liturgy.
